Brimming with great dreams like become a world class athlete that can compete in the Olympics, this young lady came to this town in 1984. Within four short years, her greenish brown eyes were able to capture everything. Back in the year 1988, she joined in the Olympics held in Seoul, Korea and finished sixth place. Finally this young world class runner finished her studies in her local high school last December. With her achievements and only at 23, this princess of American middle distance running also got herself a 3 year contract to endorse a popular shoe company.

This stunning young runner stands 5 foot 6 and weighs 110 pounds but as she runs to her own finish line, it's as if her feet barely touch the ground. When people try to get an autograph from her, she realizes how fidgety she becomes with her fame. She gets bothered with special treatment for she is a humble lady who believes that she is just another average person.
Though she thinks she's a regular girl, she is not truly that average. She is the first Olympian in her town. She's an important part of seven world record relay groups as well as a proud holder of four prestigious American collegiate awards. Because of her invaluable prowess as an athletic leader, their school brought home 14 prestigious title wins during the Big East finals along with 8 individual honors during the NCAA championship. She also has a multitude of major awards.
Now that she has already graduated from collegiate competitions, she has begun planning her sports career with the help of her track coach. She realizes that with this huge change comes a ton of mental adjustments. People do not understand this if they have not gone through such experiences. She challenges herself to become a great runner and this is why she feels so much pressure. She worries about getting injured while under contract for this famous shoe manufacturer. Thanks to people's great expectations of her, she's become more uneasy than she was in the past collegiate games she competed in.
People are now asking if the local woman's track team would survive without her invaluable leadership. She confidently shares that they are a great team on their own. With the notoriety, pressures and responsibilities she's faced with, she learns to value her privacy. Her family, especially her parent, brother and sister had to cope with being known as her parents, brother and sister even by strangers. She describes her parents as the perfect combination of supportive and laid back, not pushy.
One positive side to stardom is the company she keeps. Her friends are no other than the greatest and the brightest athletes that we all could only watch on television. While she does name drop, this is without any hints of pretention since she has nothing but true affection and concern for these great people that share with her a common link. For example, after returning this past June from Hawaii, where she was on a tour with a runner, she recalled that she really hadn't seen him since the Olympics. It was cool to be with him for three days, talk about how they were then and just have some good clean fun.
She admits she has more time on her hands than she'd like, but she has not run out of things to do. More than just practicing daily to become better as a runner, she is also a public figure and this calls for her to make sure that she is on top of her busy schedule which involves gracing various banquets, track meets, interviews or photo sessions. She will also share her time and talent at the local school as a volunteer assistant track coach.
In honor of her desire to be a medical doctor who is presently placed in the back burner, she aims to volunteer in an area hospital. Has she thought about her future? She foresees marriage and children, but said they will have to wait until her running career is established. But for now, she shares that she wants to reach her goals and wants.
